Tres fantastique -- Le Bon Weekend a Paris

OK. I want everyone (yes, that includes YOU, too!) reading this blog to promise me one thing. You will go to Paris. Your homework assignment is to figure out how to do it. :)

Really, Paris is an amazing city -- drop-dead beautiful, artistic, sensuous, refined.

Although the metro (Paris' subway system) works well, the city is best enjoyed on foot.

There is so much to share, but I don't want to post too much at once. Here are some pictures, with my usual commentary. More will come in a few days.

A nice shoe store with a great name!
There are many statues in the Tuilerie Gardens, near the Louvre. A pigeon makes a more practical use for this one.

For those of you who have seen The Bourne Identity, when Jason Bourne wants to meet with Conklin (the bad CIA guy) he instructs Conklin to stand on Pont Neuf and take off his jacket. Here I am, recreating the scene by standing on Pont Neuf, but, just as in the movie, Bourne never showed up.

Paris is one of those few places where so many of the finer things in life are still pursued with passion. One passion the French truly appreciate is desserts. This is from the outside of a patisserie called Gerard Mulot on rue du Seine.

The Eiffel Tower, of course. It's actually a brownish color.

Madame, voulez-vous une crepe?
